Hi, my name is Chuck Stewart.  I have been coaching and playing on basketball teams for 36 years.  I have been coaching mostly with my own kids beginning with elementary school up through high school.  You might say I am a basketball junkie.  I compiled a list of the videos that I have found most helpful for me to help my teams learn to play better basketball.  I also put them into categories to make it easy for you to review.  Feel free to browse the list.  Look down the list and see what interests you.  If you are like me you will like them all.

Click Here to go to the shooting section.  I teach my kids to shoot well so they can enjoy the game the most.  Let's face it, basketball is a great sport but the kids who play it love to score.  It makes their hearts soar when they talk about scoring.  Give them the fundamentals they need to nail a sweet a 3-point shot, shoot 90% from the free throw line or just learn to shoot great layups.  I selected a video for each of these areas that will be perfect for you to watch. I am a big fan of Ganon Baker and the approach he uses to speak directly to developing players.  You can give the DVD directly to your players when you are done with it (just be sure you get it back).

 

Really great teams play really great defense.  I have always taught man-to-man defense for my teams.  We would switch into some form of a trapping, high pressure zone to mix it up at different times throughout a game.  I look at these videos regularly and always pick up something new to share with the kids.  What's my secret to getting them to play great defense?  I tell them we can get the ball back that much quicker if we play defense the right way - it works!  Click Here to checkout the defensive series.

 

Ball Handling is almost a lost skill - Reclaim it by Clicking Here.  My best teams had great point guards.  My best teams had 5 players who could all handle the ball.  They could get through pressure in the back court. They could break down a defender off the dribble.  Great teams can do these things.  Great coaches know how to teach it.
